Abstract

Traditional photonic crystal cavities are hard to simultaneously attain extreme temporal and spatial confinement of light, which remains a barrier to realize ultimate control of light in a material and maximum performance in photonic devices. Here we demonstrated GaN and porous-GaN based photonic crystal nanobeam cavity by improving the confining light properties with the application of the slot and anti-slot effects. Three dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulations show that the cavity for blue band possesses ultrahigh quality factor as 1.67 × 107, and the mode volume is reduced tenfold compared to nanobeam without slot and anti-slot.
