Abstract

Summary Anthracnose (called anthracnose fruit rot – ripe rot) is a dangerous disease caused by fungi from the genus Colletotrichum, mainly C. acutatum and C. gleosporioides. Disease symptoms occur on all above ground plant parts, however fruit infection is the most serious. Harmfulness of the disease was particularly high in the season 2011 with hot and humid weather during the flowering, just before and during harvest promoting fruit rotting. The results of monitoring carried out in 2010–2011 showed a considerable difference in cultivar susceptibility. Cultivar Bluetta was the most susceptible to anthracnose, showing over 50% of infected fruits. Medium susceptibility showed the following cultivars: Nelson, Herbert, Toro, Bluerey, Bluecrop, Patriot and Bluegold. Cultivars: Chandler, Darrow, Elliott showed a low level of susceptibility to anthracnose. Other cultivars, Bridget, Sierra, Berkeley and Boniface, were not infected. The control of anthracnose requires several fungicide treatments carried out before flowering of plants to fruit harvest. The highest efficacy in the control of blueberry anthracnose gave cyprodinil + fludioxonil and piraclostrobin + boscalid and biological product Polyversum, which reduced disease severity in 70–80%, while potassium bicarbonate was ineffective.
