Abstract

The rapid growth in IoT adoption in different areas of our lives has made these devices a significant target for malicious actors. Attacks varied from full-device control, to botnet infections in IoT environments making them difficult to defend. One of the areas that attackers commonly target is authentication. As a response to these increasing attacks on authentication mechanisms, many state-of-the-art research was conducted to investigate employing blockchain in IoT authentication. In this chapter, we survey this research and provide insightful conclusions on the current state, and the future of blockchain research in IoT authentication.
