Abstract

The Internet of things (IoT) is still moving to its full bloom and making itself a part of the Internet of future. One huge challenge is the ability to tackle billions of IoT devices. A number of technologies exist for managing IoT devices using a centralized control model but each has some kind of technical limitations to handle the abundance of IoT devices. The research motive is to understand blockchain technology and whether or not it can be integrated with IoT. A literature review is conducted on the blockchain technology to understand the fundamental working of blockchain and to document its key features. Some recent researches in the usage of blockchain in IoT are reviewed in the chapter and a generalized architecture for blockchain are described. The chapter also focuses on issues and challenges associated with the integration of blockchain with IoT. Moreover, we provided a few recommendations for future work considering the above-mentioned issues.
