Abstract

Thermal bleaching characteristics in the range 30 to 500 °C of the optical absorption bands in X-ray irradiated manganese-doped CaF2 (with 1 and 5 mol% of manganese content) have been analysed; also the UV bleaching of CaF2: Mn (5%) with light of 300 nm has been examined. The thermal bleaching of colour centres in CaF2: Mn (1%) is considerably different from that in CaF2: Mn (5%). In the latter sample, it is observed that the UV bleaching of absorption bands is different from thermal bleaching. Possible mechanisms explaining the difference in the bleaching of colour centres in these samples have been discussed. Es wurden die Charakteristiken des thermischen Bleichens der optischen Absorptions-banden in rontgenbestrahltem, mangandotiertem CaF2 (mit 1 und 5 Mol% Mangan) im Bereich 30 bis 500 °C analysiert; zusatzlich wurde das UV-Bleichen von CaF2: Mn (5%) mit Licht von 300 nm untersucht. Das thermische Bleichen von Farbzentren in CaF2: Mn (1%) unterscheidet sich betrachtlich von dem in CaF2: Mn (5%). In der letzteren Probe wurde beobachtet, das das UV-Bleichen der Absorptionsbanden vom thermischen Bleichen verschieden ist. Mogliche Mechanismen zur Erklarung der Unterschiede des Bleichens der Farbzentren in diesen Proben werden diskutiert.
