Abstract 9,11-Didehydrogibberellin A 24 has been prepared from GA 3 and shown to be the biosynthetic precursor of the potent antheridiogen, gibberellin A 73 methyl ester, in prothallia of the ferns Lygodium flexuosum and Lygodium circinnatum .
