Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, irrespective of their nationality, places of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status. People everywhere should know and understand what human rights are, to lessen the chances of tyranny and to promote justice and well-being in society. Awareness, understanding, and use of human rights can empower individuals, can promote solutions for specific problems and thus can reduce friction within society. A recent study was conducted to explore the awareness and exercise of human rights among working and non-working women of Punjab. The study was a descriptive survey. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select a sample of 200 women (100 working women and 100 non-working women). Further, out of 100 women, 50 were from the rural area while 50 were from the urban area. The results of the study revealed that working women had a greater awareness of human rights and exercise more human rights in comparison to their non-working women counterparts. Further, rural working and urban working women had similar awareness of human rights while rural working women exercise more human rights as compared to urban counterparts. While rural and urban non-working women had similar awareness as well as knowledge about human rights.

BackgroundThe global development community has increasingly come to frame preventable maternal mortality and morbidity principally as a violation of women’s basic human rights, necessitating a human rights-based approach to be appropriately addressed. In this article, we explore how human rights are understood and perceived in relation to maternal health at the local level in rural Bangladesh. This is essential given the momentum at the global level to promote rights and apply rights-based approaches to maternal health.MethodsA community-based, cross-sectional household survey was conducted in three upazilas (sub-districts) of Brahmanbaria district, Bangladesh in 2018. A total of 1367 women with a birth outcome in the past 12 months were interviewed. Descriptive statistics were used to report the awareness and perceptions of human rights related to maternal health. Multiple logistic regression was used to identify the associations between awareness and perceptions of human rights and background characteristics and, finally, with the use of skilled maternal health services.ResultsOver two-thirds of women reported that they were aware that women have human rights related to maternal health. However, less than 10% were able to mention at least three specific human rights related to maternal health. Half of the women mentioned husbands as duty-bearers, while only 20% mentioned the government as a duty-bearer. One-third of women reported that they are able to realize their rights related to maternal health satisfactorily. Awareness and perceptions of human rights related to maternal health were significantly associated with higher educational attainment and wealth status. They were also associated with increased use of antenatal care.ConclusionsThese findings suggest that interventions promoting the awareness of human rights related to maternal health would be appropriate within the communities of rural Bangladesh as part of a broader human rights-based approach to improving maternal health.

Campus, Pithoragarh and Government postgraduate college, Berinag. In the present study descriptive survey method was adopted. Simple random sampling technique was used to select samples of 100 post graduate students with the objective to study level of human rights awareness and to compare human rights awareness with respect to gender, academic stream and nature of residence among post-graduate students. A standardised Human Rights Awareness Test by Vishal Sood & Arti Anand,(2012) was used to collect the data. To analyse the data mean, standard deviation and t-test was used. The findings of the study reveals that majority of the students (42 percent) showed averege level of awareness.On the other hand female post gradaute students, urban residing and having Science stream students have shown more awareness. So, there is a need to provide human rights education in schools and colleges. Human Rights Education mission is to encourage personal growth and acceptance of others to foster cooperation and peace among individuals and countries. Students’ awareness of human rights helps in transferring the same to future citizens. Hence adequate awareness in them can help to create a sensitive, informed, and enlightened society.

The purpose of this study was to explore the factors that assess the quality of life, even when a person’s everyday activities are restricted by mental health symptoms. Specifically, tried to the mediating effect of self-esteem, which is an internal factor of individual, and human rights awareness, which is a factor of social participation. For this purpose, we used the data of 264 people with mental disabilities from the fourth data set of the 2021 Korea Disabled Development Institute’s panel on the life of Persons with Disabilities. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and structural models of significant variables, as well as verified the mediating effect of self-esteem and human rights awareness. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 and Amos 23.0 programs, and the results of the shown below. First, there was a significant correlation between the restriction of daily life, self-esteem, awareness of human rights, and life satisfaction brought on by mental illness symptoms. Second, the restriction of daily life, self-esteem, awareness of human rights, an life satisfaction pathways caused by the symptoms of the mental illness showed significant effects. Finally, self-esteem and awareness of human rights had a significant mediating effect on life satisfaction by lowering restrictions on daily life due to symptoms. Based on the above results, proposed a discussion to improve the quality of life based on the recognition of the mental illness.

In the present scenario, it is of prior importance to spread awareness about human rights. School being a miniature of the society shoulders a huge responsibility in promotion of awareness of human rights among the learners. For successful attainment of this objective, it is important for teachers to have knowledge about human rights. The investigator conducted a survey on a sample of 60 teachers at secondary level about the awareness of human rights. A self-designed questionnaire was used by the investigator for collection of data.

“Publish or perish”—Who publishes and who perishes?

The article reveals the problematic aspects of the state of protection of human and civil rights in Ukraine, as such rights are the basis for the existence of the state as a subject of international law. Today, respect for human and civil rights and freedoms -the main criterion of civilized society, its ability to solve the most complex economic, political and social problems. It is no coincidence that the international community seeks to treat human rights globally, on an equitable and equal basis. This takes into account the national and regional specifics of states, their various historical, cultural and religious features. The article aims at a comprehensive solution to the organization of the legal system of human rights protection, which must comply with international and national law. This provides a legal description and identifies elements of a set of guarantees for constitutional protection of rights, taking into account national experience, case law, experience of other states, as well as international standards in the field of human and civil rights, generalization and development of ideas on this issue social space. Modern Ukrainian society is going through a stage of deep awareness of human rights and freedoms, which can be seen as the beginning of the spiritual revival of Ukraine. The very ideology of rights is becoming more widely recognized and in demand in state and public life. From the point of view of this ideology, there is a reassessment of views on the Soviet and post-Soviet past and a projection on the near and distant future of Ukraine. Implementation in practice of protection and defense of human and civil rights and freedoms is a long and gradual process of transformation of the whole society. However, this process has certain time limits set by the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. The implementation of this Agreement requires not only appropriate measures to improve the quality of legislation in this area, improve the executive and judiciary, local governments, and increase the activity of citizens in the context of exercising the right to protect their rights and freedoms in all ways not prohibited by law. The goal set in the article was achieved by solving the problems of studying the constitutional features of the organization of such protection and its implementation in practice.

This study was conducted to present basic data for establishing a human rights education system in the future through awareness of human rights among college students majoring in sports. To achieve this purpose, the differences in human rights awareness, human rights education, and sports ethics center awareness were analyzed through frequency analysis using IBM SPSS 22.0 through a questionnaire targeting 184 college students majoring in sports across the country, and the results were as follows. First, although most students had encountered the word human rights through TV and the Internet, they appeared to lack awareness of the human rights situation. Second, 77.7% responded that they had experience with human rights education, but in response to the need for human rights education, a high figure of over 80% responded that it was necessary or higher. Third, in terms of awareness of the Sports Ethics Center among college students majoring in sports, 78.3% of students responded that they did not know much about it, indicating a lack of overall understanding of the Sports Ethics Center. These results showed that sports majors lack an overall understanding of human rights, so professional human rights education with purpose and content should be provided based on this study.

Human rights awareness through education is the ultimate solution against Human Rights abuses. Human Rights awareness of teacher–trainees will help to understand and to expand the rights of their future students. That’s why the particular study was preferred. The study was conducted to investigate the awareness of Human Rights among B. Ed level teacher trainees. 80 B. Ed level teacher- trainees were selected through purposive sampling method from the department of Education, S.S.J. University, Almora, Uttarakhand. To study the human rights awareness in groups of teacher trainees identified based on demographic and academic factors i.e. gender, nature of residence, academic stream, marital status, and educational status. For data collection, a self-made Human Rights Awareness Questionnaire (HRAQ) was used by the researcher based on 5 aspects of human rights and then percentage analysis of data was done. A finding of the study revealed that female, rural, Arts-stream, unmarried, and postgraduate level teacher-trainees were found more aware of human rights.

The value of human rights in a democratic South Africa is constantly threatened and often waived for nefarious reasons. We contend that the use of visual graphics among incoming university visual art students provides a mode of engagement that helps to inculcate awareness of human rights, social responsibility, and the public good in South African higher education. Visual graphics, the subject of the research project which forms a key component of a Masters dissertation by one of the authors, provides an opportunity to counter a noticeable decline in the students’ response and sensitivity to the freedoms entrenched in the South African Bill of Rights. The article presents a study using an action research approach in the classroom between 2005–2010, in order to inculcate awareness of human rights among participating students and deepen their understanding of social responsibility. The method used involved an introduction to specific visual art curricular intervention projects which required incoming first-year students to develop visual responses to address selected human rights violations and, in their second year, to develop their visual voice in order to promote human rights advocacy through civic engagement. The critical outcomes impact positively on the use of graphic images in the curriculum as a visual methodology to re-insert the discourse of human rights as a basic tenet of constitutional democracy in higher education.

본 연구에서는 간호대학생의 인권의식을 파악하고 여기에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하여 미래 의료현장 전문가로서의 인간 존중에 대한 가치관을 분석하고 함양할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 인천, 강원 지역의 대학교에 재학 중인 간호학과 학생을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 배포하여 자료를 수집하였으며 최종 440부를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 간호대학생의 인권의식은 의무적 측면보다 권리적 측면이 더 높게 나타났다. 그리고 인권의식에 영향을 미치는 유의한 요인으로는 어머니의 자율-통제 양육태도였고(p< .001), 어머니의 자율-통제 양육태도는 인권의식을 7.6%설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 간호대학생의 인권의식은 연령에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 부모의 양육태도, 자아존중감, 심리적환경과는 유의한 상관관계를 나타냈다. This study was done to identify awareness of human rights in nursing students, and to evaluate the factors affecting human rights for nursing students. A cross-sectional design was used, with a convenience sample of 440 nursing students from two university in Incheon and Kangwon province. The score for right consciousness was much higher than duty consciousness inherent in human rights. The predicting factor for human rights was mother's rearing attitude in terms of autonomy and this factor explained 7.6% of human rights for nursing students. There was a significant difference on human rights for nursing students according to age and awareness of human rights were related to perceived parents' rearing attitude, self-esteem, psychological home environment.

The purpose of this article is to explore and analyse the link between human rights and poverty on the one hand and the role human rights can and do play in poverty reduction on the other. Drawing on research conducted by the author, the article shows how levels of public awareness of human rights are directly linked to levels of poverty in South Africa. Lack of knowledge and public awareness of human rights is mainly prevalent among the poor. Any programme aimed at reducing poverty in South Africa should adopt a holistic strategy that not only incorporates a human rights approach but also addresses the question of the low levels of human rights education.

Este artigo indaga se os direitos humanos seriam parte de uma utopia da modernidade, que se desvanecem ante distopias e desafios da sociedade contemporânea. Analisando a trajetória histórica dos direitos humanos, verifica-se que se compõe de períodos de emergência e latência. Uma visão da situação atual evidencia significativos avanços no que se refere às normas, monitoramento, denúncia e consciência dos mesmos, apesar das contradições, especialmente entre as normas e sua aplicação pelos Estados nacionais soberanos. A literatura sugere que tais avanços se devem menos às sanções que à consciência em face da legitimidade moral dos direitos humanos, o que ressalta a importância da educação, tanto escolar como extraescolar. No que tange à escola, requer transformações profundas: conhecer melhor os educandos e construir clima baseado no exemplo da prática e respeito dos direitos humanos. Os currículos precisam abranger a interdisciplinaridade e métodos que incentivem a atuação dos alunos como protagonistas. Human rights, legal literacy and social well-being are dynamic concepts that will find expanded expression and constantly cover new areas as human society continues to evolve to higher levels of development. Education for these concepts are applicable at all levels of education. In the book "Dictionary of Education", Carter V. Good, emphasized that from the early years of the child, the human rights education, legal literacy and social well-being are necessary. Preschool and early primary education can highlight a sense of common humanity among children. The older primary school children are aware of social and political issues and they have a right to learn about values, which have been universally proclaimed. Before any effective policy is launched for the human development, awareness should be aroused. But the question is that how it can be ensured that the masses and the younger generation in schools and colleges are aware of the Governments polices which guarantee world peace, prosperity and universal brotherhood. Today we have the modern system of communication. Durham, in a chapter from the book "From Sovereign Impunity to International Accountability" published in 2004, has mentioned that we can know what is happening and where it is happening in the world. But we have seen a large number of violation examples which are gradually increasing. Betty A. Reardon, in the book "Educating for Human Dignity: Learning about Rights and Responsibilities" published in the year 1995, pointed out that trends have emerged where individuals betrayed scant regard for the life and dignity of others. Education can play a strong role to secure human rights and dignity of human being. Before imparting this kind of education to them, how far they are aware about human rights and legal literacy should be measured. Thus, this study is a task to understand the awareness of Human rights, legal literacy, and social well-being of secondary school students of Srinagar and Budgam Districts of Jammu and Kashmir. In the present study, the investigator followed survey and correlational research.
