Abstract

Dr. Rajendra K. Chaudhary is an MD and DNB in pathology and has interests in immunohematology, platelet serology and clinical transfusion medicine. He is currently the Professor and Head of the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow. Dr. Chaudhary is a member of the technical resource group for the National AIDS Control Organization in New Delhi and a member of the Post Graduate Board of the Medical Council of India (MCI) for Transfusion Medicine, where he is regarded as the country’s MCI expert in transfusion medicine.Dr. Chaudhary is the recipient of several awards including the Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology J.R. Jolly Award – honouring individual medical personnel who have established innovative ideas in their research work of high standards. He was bestowed Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) training in Japan.Dr. Chaudhary has established coveted fellowships from the International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) to undergo training in thrombophilia at the Geneva University Hospital in Switzerland and was acknowledged by the Israel Government for further training in PBSCT at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel.Dr. Chaudhary was privileged with an Australian Government Scholarship to study platelet serology at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, Australia. In addition to his many prestigious awards, he received a travel grant from the International Society of Blood Transfusion to participate in the conferences being held in Taiwan, Edinburgh and Bangkok. Dr. Chaudhary is an accomplished writer with 23 international and 21 national publications to his credit. Dr. Rajendra K.
