Abstract

The review article provides information about the studies of the students and followers of M.G. Voronkov, devoted to the biochemical study of the effect of some protatranes on the pathogenesis of gastric ulcer in the experiment. On the basis of our own and published data, a paradigm is built about the role of lipid peroxidation in the dysregulation of metabolic processes, both during the formation of a stomach ulcer and during its healing. The leading role in this is played by glycosaminoglycans: heparan sulfate, dermatan sulfate, hyaluronate, chondriotin-4-sulfate and chondriotin-6-sulfate, which provide the main structural and functional properties of the stomach walls.
