Abstract
Metal nanoclusters are considered as the bridge between nanoparticle and discrete noble metal atoms. It comes typically in the size range of <3 nm. They exhibit excellent photophysical properties. In the visible and near infra red (IR) range, they demonstrate fluorescence phenomena. Also, they are more stable in biological condition. Owing to these properties, the prospect of using noble metal nanoclusters for biomedical imaging has been exploited as the conventional fluorescent dues have limited use in cellular condition. In the current article, the synthesis and imaging application of noble metal nanoclusters have been discussed.
