Abstract

ABSTRACTWhat opportunities is Building Information Modelling, BIM, offering to the architectural design process, and consequentially to the architecture education? How can architectural education benefit from BIM potentials and cope with – if any-? The paper attempts to investigate these research areas, by presenting a case study of an elective course in an architecture curriculum, in which BIM associated with different computer programmes of building performance analysis, is employed by the students to improve their designs. The paper utilizes design cases of the students to highlight certain benefits of using BIM in the design process, particularly how BIM analysis in the regard to environmental and sustainable factors would help in the designing phases.
