Abstract

AbstractIt is shown that in a system of ortho‐ and para‐excitons two ortho‐excitons with total spin S = 0 interact attractively and biexcitons can be formed. The interaction potential of two ortho‐excitons is approximated by a generalized Morse potential depending on the electron—hole mass ratio σ. On this basis the energy of vibrational and rotational levels of the biexciton is obtained. The binding energy of the biexciton ground state is estimated for all values of σ.
