Abstract

The eigenmode propagation algorithm based on the method of lines is extended to treat wave propagation in longitudinally varying and strongly reflecting waveguides with high refractive index contrast. The analysis includes multiple reflections, radiation loss and absorption by lossy dielectrics. Results for the power flow in a corrugated slab waveguide are in excellent agreement with the literature.
