Abstract

The novel Pb2Pd superconducting alloy crystallizes in CuAl2-type structure, which can be depicted as infinite stacking of Pb and Pd layer. A series of Bi-doped Pb2-xBixPd (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.6) alloys were successfully prepared via conventional solid-state method. We systematically investigated the Bi-doping effect on superconductivity of Pb2Pd alloy by the magnetic susceptibility and resistivity measurements. It is found that superconducting Tc is enhanced when Bi-doping content x = 0.2 and 0.6, while Tc is slightly suppressed when x = 0.4.
