Abstract

Loading impact on the bi-SQUID output signal linearity has been studied. As the load impedance decreases, the maximum attainable linearity drops. This effect is minimized when the impedance is approximately the same at both signal and Josephson oscillation frequencies. The impedance value is allowed to be as low as 4RN to RN (normal Josephson junction resistance) to support linearity level no less than 70 to 60 dB, respectively. This is the level that can be considered realistically attainable given that the junction critical currents and inductances are fixed by fabrication and cannot be tuned during operation.
