Let (R,m,K) be a regular local ring of dimensionnand letMbe a finite length module overR. This paper gives an affirmative answer to Horrocks' questions whenm2M=0, that is, in this case the rank of theith syzygy ofMis at least[formula]and theith Betti number ofMis at least[formula].
