Abstract

The structure of tricarbonyl(6-dimethylaminofulvene)chromium has been determined by single X-ray analysis. The compound crystallizes in the mono-clinic space group P2 1/ c with lattice constants a 774.1(7), b 1258.5(10), c 1322.5(11) pm; β 118.26(2)°; Z 4. The final R index for 895 observed reflections of non-zero weight ( F > 3σ) is 0.035. The molecule contains fulvene in its dipolar state, which is stabilized by complexing the negative fulvene ring to the Cr(CO) 3-group.
