Abstract

This study is an appraisal of presentation of the EU-Turkey relations in Turkish press in terms of Turkey’s democracy and the making of political sphere. While focusing on a crucial milestone of Turkey's bid of accession to the EU, in the context of 2000-2012 era. The study employs a news frames of Turkish media groups. The research shows that an political approach which points to the seeing Turkey through a European lens by Turkish media groups is dominant in news and commentaries, and that the EU-Turkey relations are presented in the context of cultural politics and economic and strategic pragmatism.
