Abstract

This narrative illustrates the author’s gradual movement toward becoming a classical Adlerian depth psychotherapist (CADP) and training analyst. The following elaboration on the influences that guided the author in this direction and any personal contributions are discussed. In conclusion, some ideas about the integration of CADP with the treatment of addiction are postulated. This incorporation may be one of many potential paths to bring Adler’s theory and relevance to current depth psychodynamic psychotherapy treatment that it deserves.
