Abstract

A three dimensional, Fluid–Structure Interaction model of the uncoiled cochlea was built and calculated in the time domain in pre- and post-stapedotomy states. The model predicted the basilar membrane vibration amplitude and pressure waves magnitude in both states.Additionally, the model was analyzed in terms of the dynamics response of the cochlea. It was show, using Short Time Fourier Trnsform, that the sounds, thus hearing, may be unsteady phenomenas. The results of the FSI cochlea model were compared with one dimensional mass–spring–damper system.
