Abstract
The authors seek to intensify the process of separating nonhomogeneous liquid mixtures by creating fundamentally new adaptive (self-adjusting) automatic systems which form complete units with the equipment and which ensure a high efficiency of its operation. The choice of the control objective is determined by the specific plant situation. The generalized structure of an adaptive automatic control system is shown. The systems which have been developed have been introduced in seven plants in the chemical, petrochemical, microbiological, and food industries. The development and practical application of adaptive automatic control systems have made it possible to pass on to the creation of control systems based on microprocessor techniques.
