Abstract

The complex RuH(η 2-CH 2PMe 2)(PMe 3) 3 is obtained by reduction of trans-RuCl 2(PMe 3) 4 with Na/Hg in benzene. In contrast to the iron analogue, this complex is configurationally stable on the NMR time scale and does not react with CO or P(OMe) 3 under normal conditions, but it does react with the electrophiles MeI, CS 2 and NH 4PF 6 to form RuI(η 2-CH 2PMe 2)(PMe 3) 3, Ru(η 3-S 2CHPMe 2CH 2)(PMe 3) 3 and [RuH(PMe 3) 5]PF 6, respectively.
