Abstract
In this first chapter of Part III, we present the basic equations for an atmospheric general circulation model. We consider the model governed by primitive equations on a sphere in s-coordinates. Primitive equations have already been described in Chapter 3. Here, we summarize these equations in spherical coordinates for convenience of numerical discretization in the following chapters.
