Abstract

Selection of total cross-section and split type for transmission line conductor is an important factor in obtaining good economic benefits during the entire life-cycle of AC power transmission projects. Economic current density is an important reference for line cross-section selection. The traditional economic current density algorithm exist the following problems: 1. Traditional algorithm ignores the influence of line maintenance cost, spare parts cost and the retirement cost. 2. Electricity price and wire price are important factors affecting current density. Obviously the current price is different with the 80s. The method of traditional ignores the time value of money and think the price as constants. This paper presents a method which is based on the theory of LCC to solve the above problems. Each cost function expression of line section is fitted out with plenty of practical engineering data. Finally, a practical case study is employed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the method and model proposed on the completed transmission line.
