Abstract

we propose a method to improve optical frequency comb (OFC) flatness and its bandwidth tunability. The system performance is analyzed using numerical simulation software. The proposed scheme consists of the cascade of intensity and phase modulators, in a sequential way to apply time to frequency (TTF) mapping first, later addition of an intensity modulator to achieve very flat and bandwidth tunable comb source. Numerical simulation reveals that the comb exhibits relatively high spectral flatness and variable bandwidth tunability without affecting the comb spectral flatness. Moreover, the comb flatness improvement is calculated as the percentage improvement (%-improvement) for the variable number of comb-lines and found as 23%, 43.71%, and 50.56% when comb source is tuned to 25-lines, 30-lines, and 45-lines respectively.
