Abstract

Baba Tahir-i Hamadani who is considered to be one of the pioneers of Kurdish literature, is a poet known for his dubeytis (double couplets). Although Baba Tahir is not well known throughout world and especially in the west, he has drawn attention and come into prominence thorugh his dubeytis since the 19th century. Studies on Baba Tahir have consequently increased to a great extent in recent years, and his poems have been translated and interpreted into various languages and have been the subject of scientific studies. Simultaneously, studies have been made about this ancient source in all dialects of Kurdish and different translations have been published. In this article, three different Kurmanji translations of Baba Tahir's dubeytis have been evaluated and the sources used in the translations, the language used and the number of translated poems have been compared.
