Abstract
In this study, we designed and built a multistage thermoacoustic Stirling engine electric generator prototype. The prototype consists of a loud speaker operating as a compression piston, a duct, three regenerators, and a voice coil motor (VCM) operating as a expansion piston. Use of three regenerators is the difference from ordinary Stirling engines. While the gain of acoustic power was 1.76 with a single regenerator, it reached 5.1 when three regenerators were used. Since the Stirling engine that we developed can operate with relatively low temperature difference, it has potential applicability to the recovery of exhaust heat.
