Abstract

Aim: To determine the level of awareness of implants as a dental treatment modality. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 500 patients visiting the Department of Periodontics, Ragas Dental College and Hospital, Chennai, in the form of a printed questionnaire to evaluate the awareness about dental implants. Results: Out of the 500 dental patients, 86.8% were willing to replace missing teeth and preferred a fixed prosthesis. Only 27.8% had heard about dental implants as a treatment modality for replacing missing teeth, most of them being in the age group of Conclusion: The survey concluded that 76% of the study population was unaware of dental implants as a viable treatment option for replacement of missing teeth.
