Abstract
The Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Applied Research is given to a psychologist whose research has led to important discoveries or developments in the field of applied psychology. The 2018 recipient is Gary W. Harper, "for his exceptional scholarship and leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of community-based HIV prevention interventions for youth broadly, and youth of color and LGBT youth specifically, whose psychosocial needs are often marginalized or approached from a narrowly focused perspective."
