Abstract
A semi-theoretical relationship has been developed between the avalanche breakdown voltage and the product of the junction depth and background impurity concentration for plane, cylindrical and spherical diffused junctions. This has been confirmed experimentally for plane and cylindrical junctions, over the voltage range 10 < V B < 9000 V .
