Abstract

Production planning for turning operations on cam-controlled automatic turret lathes and sliding lathes requires considerable effort. To reduce this, rationalization solutions have been found, using computers for the calculation of control cams for automatic screw machines made by a special manufacturer, or small computers for the calculation of numerous partial processes. This paper discusses the computer programs: • ⊎ AUTOTECH Automatic Turret Lathes • ⊎ AUTOTECH Automatic Sliding Lathes which feature: • ⊎ an applicability to automatic screw machines made by different manufacturers • ⊎ high production-technological efficiency. In the AUTOTECH programs the calculation of cams includes: • ⊎ the calculation of feeds and rotational speeds • ⊎ the determination of idle time items • ⊎ the preparation of data required for the manufacture of cams on NC milling machines. Thus, lower-cost production planning is ensured. The AUTOTECH Automatic Turret Lathes program has been applied successfully by different users for many years, whereas industrial use of the AUTOTECH Automatic Sliding Lathes program started at the beginning of 1981. The experience gained by enterprises using these programs in under evaluation by a suprafactory study group of the GDR Chamber of Technology (that is the GDR Engineers' Association), and serves as a basis for continuous improvements upon the grams.
