Introduction: Childhood obesity is a complex global challenge linked to genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors, the prevention of which requires changing habits through health promotion and education; however, there is a lack of instruments to study this reality in a comprehensive and articulated manner. Objective: Design and evaluate the reliability and validity of a questionnaire to assess the dimensions of healthy eating, personal hygiene and physical activity in children between 8 and 12 years of age. Method: For this purpose, a study with a non-experimental design was proposed, developed in 5 stages: 1) item construction, 2) content validation by experts, 3) cognitive piloting, 4) analysis of item responses, and 5) reliability assessment. The first version of the self-administered questionnaire with a preliminary battery of 67 items gave way to an initial version of the instrument with 40 questions related to the three main dimensions of the questionnaire. Content validation techniques such as the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and the Content Validity Index (CVI) were used during the instrument validation process. The 40 items designed were rated by 3 experts. A pilot test was conducted with 221 elementary school students. Results: all items had a CVR greater than 0.5823, indicating that the instrument can be used in its current state. In addition, the CVI value obtained was 0.9650, demonstrating a high content validity of the instrument. This result is revalidated by the high number of agreements among the experts in the “Indispensable” and “Useful but not indispensable” categories (118 out of 120 possible agreements). The internal consistency of the instrument was evaluated by calculating Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 40 items that make up the three dimensions. The alpha coefficient obtained was 0.960, indicating high reliability of the instrument. In addition, the items of each dimension were analyzed and none of them presented a Cronbach's alpha coefficient lower than 0.85. Conclusions: Content validity yielded an overall CVI of 0.9650 and Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each dimension was 0.964, 0.957 and 0.964 for food, personal hygiene and physical activity, respectively. This indicates that the instrument is internally consistent and therefore reliable. Furthermore, it can measure one, two or all three dimensions, and can be used to measure the impact of educational interventions in these areas in the school population aged 8 to 12 years.

To translate and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Essentials of Magnetism II tool (EOM II) for Chinese nurses in critical care settings. The EOM II is a reliable and valid scale for measuring the healthy work environment (HWE) for nurses in Western countries, however, it has not been validated among Chinese nurses. The translation of the EOM II followed internationally recognized guidelines. The Chinese version of the Essentials of Magnetism II tool (C-EOM II) was reviewed by an expert panel for culturally semantic equivalence and content validity. Then, 706 nurses from 28 intensive care units (ICUs) affiliated with 14 tertiary hospitals participated in this study. The reliability of the C-EOM II was assessed using the Cronbach's alpha coefficient; the content validity of this scale was assessed using the content validity index (CVI); and the construct validity was assessed using the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The C-EOM II showed excellent content validity with a CVI of 0·92. All the subscales of the C-EOM II were significantly correlated with overall nurse job satisfaction and nurse-assessed quality of care. The CFA showed that the C-EOM II was composed of 45 items with nine factors, accounting for 46·51% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha coefficients for these factors ranged from 0·56 to 0·89. The C-EOM II is a promising scale to assess the HWE for Chinese ICU nurses. Nursing administrators and health care policy-makers can use the C-EOM II to evaluate clinical work environment so that a healthier work environment can be created and sustained for staff nurses.

Background: Professional identity is a vital component of medical education that influences the future practice of medical students. Currently, there is a lack of a reliable and valid Persian scale for measuring students' readiness for professional identity. Objectives: This study aims to determine whether the Professional Self-identity Questionnaire (PSIQ) can be adapted for Persian healthcare professions. Methods: A descriptive-correlation study was conducted among medical students (years 4 - 7) at Shiraz Medical School. A total of 175 students completed the Persian version of the PSIQ using stratified sampling. The PSIQ consists of nine items. Categorical Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CCFA) and Cronbach's alpha coefficient were used to assess the questionnaire's validity and reliability. The questionnaire was translated into Persian by two independent translators whose first language was Persian, and an agreement was reached. Data analysis and the path diagram were conducted using R.3.6.2 software with the lavaan and semPlot packages. Results: An eight-person expert panel approved the face, content, and structural validity of the questionnaire. The items' Content Validity Index (CVI) exceeded 0.79, and the questionnaire's overall Content Validity Ratio (CVR) exceeded 0.75, according to the Lawshe table. The goodness-of-fit indices for the professional self-identity model included the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA), Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI), and Comparative Fit Index (CFI) (RMSEA = 0.055, CFI = 0.996, and TLI = 0.994). The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for the three subscales—"profession-specific tasks," "generic attributes," and "inter-personal tasks"—were 0.762, 0.622, and 0.747, respectively (P-value < 0.05). The internal consistency of the entire questionnaire, measured by Cronbach's alpha, was 0.873. These statistical results indicate that the hypothesized three-factor model fit the sample data well. Consequently, all nine items were significantly loaded on the three domains. Conclusions: The Persian-translated version of the PSIQ appears to be an appropriate, valid, and reliable tool for assessing the professional self-identity attitudes of medical students in Iran.

Using Health-related quality of life (HRQL) in chronic patients with severe respiratory insufficiency (SRI) requires a valid instrument. Hence, this study aimed to translate and validate the Persian version of the Severe Respiratory Insufficiency Questionnaire in chronic patients with severe respiratory insufficiency. In this methodological study, the original version of the HRQL questionnaire in chronic patients with SRI was translated based on the approach presented by Wild et al. Face validity, content validity such as content validity index (CVI) and content validity ratio (CVR), convergent, and discriminant validity were evaluated. Moreover, construct validity evaluation was conducted by exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses (EFA & CFA).Reliability was also evaluated by calculating Cronbach's alpha and test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). SPSS-16 and AMOS-24 software were used for data analysis. The target group approved the face validity of the questionnaire and the content validity index was 0.94. In total, 500 chronic patients with severe respiratory insufficiency participated in the construct validity. Seven factors were extracted in exploratory factor analysis as respiratory complaints, physical functioning, social relationship, anxiety, attendant symptoms and sleep, social functioning, and psychological well-being. These factors explained 73.91% of the total variance of the concept of HRQL in chronic patients with SRI. All factors confirmed in confirmatory factor analysis based on model fit indices [Comparative Fit Index (CFI)=0.94, Goodness of fit index (GFI)=0.94, Minimum Discrepancy Function by Degrees of Freedom divided (CMIN/DF) =2.99, and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)=0.01]. Convergent and discriminant validity were also confirmed. Moreover, Cronbach's alpha coefficients of 0.84 and intraclass correlation coefficient of 0.82-0.96 with 15-day intervals confirmed the internal consistency of the instrument. According to the findings of the present study, the Persian version of the SRI questionnaire, with 7 subscales and 40 items, is a valid and reliable instrument to assess the HRQL in chronic patients with SRI.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Digital Game Addiction Scale (DGAS-7) that was developed to explore the problematic gaming behavior of adolescents. Methods: The samples for this methodological study comprised 95 adolescents in the 9th, 10th and 11th grades of a high school in Istanbul who had played/continued to play computer/video games and were willing to participate in the study. The DGAS-7 is a 5-item Likert type, single-dimension scale made up of 7 questions. For its Turkish version, the scale was first translated and back-translated, and then submitted to an expert to check content validity. An evaluation of the reliability of the scale was made using item-total correlation, internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) coefficient and test-retest correlation methods. The content validity index and concurrent validity were evaluated to assess validity, and explanatory factor analysis (AFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to evaluate construct validity. Results: The mean age of the adolescents was 16.61±0.99 years and 69% were males. The Content Validity Index for the DGAS-7 was 0.92, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.72 and item-total correlation ranged between 0.52 and 0.76. The correlation for the test-retest at three weeks was 0.80. In the explanatory factor analysis, 56.96% of the total variance on the one-dimensional scale was explained and factor loads ranged between 0.52-0.77. The confirmatory factor analysis revealed values of χ2=14.22, p=0.37, sd=14, RMSEA=0.012, AGFI=0.92, CFI=0.99, GFI=0.96, and SRMR=0.06, showing that the model was a good fit. Discussion/Conclusion: The results of the validity and reliability testing of the Turkish version of the DGAS-7 were found to be similar to the findings of the original scale. These results show that the Turkish version may be used as a valid and reliable tool in determining problem-causing digital gaming behavior among adolescents and also for purposes of early diagnosis and in other relevant research. It might be recommended that exploring the validity and reliability of the scale is repeated in different groups of subjects of similar ages and that the scale is used in prevalence studies.
