Abstract
Abstract Documentaries play a vital role in promoting and disseminating traditional martial arts. By analysing bullet-screen comments on traditional martial arts documentaries can gain a deep understanding of the audience’s emotional responses and interaction patterns. This approach effectively captures their subjective views, thereby enhancing the dissemination of traditional martial arts. Drawing on the interaction ritual chain theory proposed by Randall Collins, this study examines the documentary Hermit Master. The research methodology involves crawling bullet-screen data from Bilibili using Python, conducting sentiment analysis and topic extraction, and visually presenting the findings. The analysis reveals that Hermit Master has garnered significant audience acclaim, primarily due to its exceptional communication strategy. This strategy includes highlighting combat elements, broadening dissemination channels, standardizing communication subjects, and focusing on emotional engagement with the audience. The study’s findings suggest that emphasizing the technical aspects of martial arts is crucial in capturing the audience’s attention and interest. By understanding the audience’s preferences, emotions, and interaction patterns, content creators and promoters can develop more effective communication strategies to showcase the richness and depth of these traditional martial arts.
