Abstract

A new species to the flora of the Middle Volga Region, Astragalus pallasii Biehler, is recorded. New localities of A. pallasii were found in the Samara, Saratov and Orenburg regions, with Samara populations being at the north-western limit of the species range. A. pallasii is recorded for Samara and Saratov regions for the first time. Furthermore, these findings have significantly expanded the known distribution of the species. Description of the spotted populations of the species is given, variability of corolla coloration is illustrated. The cited herbarium specimens are deposited in the Herbarium of the Samara University (SMR), duplicates are passed to the Herbarium of the Komarov Botanical Institute RAS (LE) and Saratov State University (SARAT). A. pallasii is recommended to include in the Red Lists of the Samara, Saratov and Orenburg regions.
