Abstract
Objective: To investigate the association of carotid atherosclerosis (CA) with both plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) in different position and PAC response to a change from supine to sitting and standing position. Methods: Carotid intima-media thickness (IMT), carotid plaque and PAC in different position were measured with B-mode ultrasonography and posture test in 252 hypertensives. They were categorized into two groups by carotid plaque: group 1 (80 cases, IMT<1.2mm), group 2 (172 cases, IMT≥1.2mm).
