The privilege of technological progression permits clinical evaluation of structural properties of bone. Using clinical CT, three-dimensional measurement of bone mineral density and bone geometry in proximal femur is shown to be useful in the assessment of hip fracture risk. Microstructure is three-dimensionally visualized and measured by high resolution CT and MR, and their evaluation are demonstrated to be useful in the assessment of fracture risk and of efficacy of treatment.
