Abstract

Skill-mix issues involve task analysis, interprofessional roles and the use of unqualified staff. An attempt has to be made to match skill to needs. This article explores the concepts of need and demand and discusses how the professions can take the responsibility for clarifying their roles, using unqualified staff and positively investigating the role of generic therapists and helpers.
