Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the perceptions of human resources professionals from banking institutions about how workplace bullying occurs and how actions are taken to prevent it. The human resources area has, among its attributions, the establishment of policies that guide the behavior of members in organizations. Regarding bullying, it was observed, in the specialized literature, several concepts and definitions, which allow different interpretations. The research corpus was built by conducting interviews and analyzing documents, which were analyzed using an argumentative narrative. It was found that all banks studied are, in the officially adopted speech, against disrespectful attitudes at work, however, they limit themselves on the dissemination of the code of ethics. As for the definition of workplace bullying, it was found that this field is still under discussion, since the institutions show divergences, mainly regarding isolated attitudes.
