Abstract
1. For application to coarsely porous fills, the authors suggest an experimentally-based two-term formula for the fundamental seepage equation, which permits calculation of the water transmission capacity of a fill of jagged or rounded stones over a wide range of Reynolds numbers, corresponding to the transition from laminar to developed turbulent seepage. 2. To make a rough first approximation of the onset of seepage deformation of the bottom slope of a singlefraction fill, an experimental formula Eq. (12) is found for certain ranges of the parameters.
