Abstract
It has been proved that UPb zircon dating provides reliable formation ages for magmatic rocks affected by medium or lower grade metamorphism. The timing of the main volcanic, plutonic and metamorphic episodes of the early- to mid-Proterozoic evolution of northern Sweden has therefore been verified. A preliminary and schematic chronology of these events is presented.
