Abstract

The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) starts in December 2015. But has ASEAN done enough so that members will have adequate structures in place for the fair and efficient resolution of commercial disputes in the AEC? In the limited time left, ASEAN states should consider adopting six Hague Conventions to provide a uniform legal infrastructure for resolution of such disputes. ASEAN and its members should also consider joining the Hague Conference to develop other conventions for improving dispute resolution within the AEC.
