Abstract

Artificial sex regulation of mammalian offspring was studied during a series of electrophoresis experiments. It was noted that rabbit sperms and human sperms from several donors could be separated into fractions 1 migrating to the cathode and to other to the anode. Care should be taken to use low currents during the electrophoresis since the use of high currents results in disintegration of the sperm cells. The pH of the medium in which fertilization is to take place is affected by acid and basic secretions and both pH and magnitude and possibly the sign of the sperm and ova will be affected by interactions of sugar and amino groups giving rise to increased negative charge on the units to w hich the amino groups are attached accompanied by increase in the hydro gen ion concentration of the surrounding medium. Therefore care should be taken to record the pH of both diluted and undiluted material prior to electorphoresis.
