Abstract
In a recent study by Roger et al. (e00299-21), genetic engineering of Escherichia coli for constitutive production of its formate hydrogenlyase enzyme resulted in the continuous capture of CO2 and H2 as formate. This platform shows promise for H2 storage as formate, a liquid fuel, using a greenhouse gas.
