Abstract

This article reflects the author’s views on the significance of art, in its integral entirety, as a basic factor in the formation of key competences in children and students. The concepts of competences, abilities, education through art, as well as the specific goals of visual art education in the various educational stages indicated in the normative documents – from preschool education to high school education – including the areas of competence for each of them are considered.
