Summary
As the co-editors of the book Arresting Hope: Women that take Action in Prison Health Inside Out (Inanna Publications, 2014), we have been engaged in a long collaboration of research and writing. In the participatory health research project, I learned from listening to women in prison that in order to achieve health, women in prison want to be supported in improving their relationships with their babies, their children and families; they want to be engaged in meaningful work; they want to be supported by communities when they leave prison; and, they need supportive housing when they leave prison Their prison research work demonstrated that, when they are given a chance, and support, and hope, women are capable, and that everything is possible. Always on the outskirts of society and not sure where I fit into this big wide world we live in
