Abstract

Aims • To familiarise the reader with the declaration and processing of arrays with simple base types (int, char, etc.). • To introduce the use of pointers to the simple types and to make the reader aware of the close connection between pointers and array names. • To introduce string-handling and the standard library functions most commonly used for this. • To demonstrate the way in which reference types may be used (in preference to pointers) to achieve argumentpassing by reference.
