Abstract
A mathematical model is described suitable to analyse the transient response of present-day h.v. d.c. convertor stations to arc-quenching disturbances in the main valves and bypass valves. The model is used to determine the voltage stresses at the convertor plant and the effect of valve restrike following the disturbance.
