Abstract
Quadratic and cubic approximating functions are presented for estimating the upper and lower 95% critical values for the mean square successive difference test. Tables for comparison and graphs of the errors demonstrate the adequacy of the procedure. An example illustrates its application. The equations and their extension have been found useful in computer analysis of quality control data for process capability studies.
