Abstract
The reliability of one of the simplest methods for calculating vibration parameters in the region of subharmonic resonance for an elastic body with a breathing crack, which is modeled by a single-degree-of-freedom system with a bilinear asymmetric characteristic of the restoring force is assessed. The method is based on the proposition that in a nonlinear system the subharmonic vibrations exist alongside with the fundamental forced ones and are the free vibrations maintained by a driving force.
