Abstract
This paper focuses on the development of effective transmission schemes in energy efficient wireless sensor networks (WSN). By applying full diversity and full rate space time block coding (STBC) and selecting the appropriate relaying nodes to cooperatively receive and transmit signals, we propose a scheme, generalized-node- selection (GNS) algorithm, which takes full advantage of the cooperative diversity and selection diversity and is suitable for the cooperation of a large number of nodes. Compared with currently proposed transmission schemes, the GNS algorithm can greatly reduce the energy consumption and can be applied to WSN, the topology of which is frequently changed. Simulations show the proposed scheme can effectively improve the energy efficiency, and therefore prolong the lifetime of WSN.
